Pre-Ballet/Creative Movement (3 to 6 years old) This class is designed to introduce the world of dance through various movement activities, beginning ballet positions and steps. Children learn to use their bodies and imaginations. This class includes warm-up exercises, partner and group dances, and development of musical skills. Classical Ballet (7and up) Ballet is a beautiful art form which requires dedication and discipline on the part of the student. Ballet training is an excellent form of exercise for all ages, toning and strengthening the entire body, and helping to increase flexibility, coordination, and proper posture. (back to top) Pointe (11 and up) Pointe work is an extension of classical ballet which begins at age 11 for the serious student with previous training. Two ballet classes a week are required in addition to the pointe class. (back to top)
Hip/Hop Jazz Funk (12 through adult) This exciting class combines jazz technique and current dance trends in a fast-paced and fun atmosphere. Guaranteed to increase endurance, flexibility, and strength as you learn the latest moves and dance to the tunes of your favorite artists. Tap (7 and up) A truly American form of dance which allows the dancer's body to be used as a rhythm instrument through intricate footwork, syncopated sounds, and stylized movement. (back to top) Modern (11 and up) Modern dance is a contemporary style of dance which involves the exploration and experimentation of movement through technical and improvisational work in class. Dancers will be introduced to the elements of movement and how they relate to the creative process.
Dress Code The dress code requires each student to wear a leotard, tights, and shoes appropriate for the class being taken. The leotard color is determined by heir class placement. The hair must be worn in a bun for all ballet classes. Hair should e pulled away from the face and off the neck for jazz, tap, Hip/Hop Jazz Funkand modern classes. |
